WORKING: Driving ALONE to Source

Service Description

This 6-week class will focus on building and improving your dog's skills in working odor independently. We will work on various types of independent skills, and discuss how our own actions can impact our dog's ability to do their job. This class is suitable for any dog that is currently competing. There will be assignments each week at various levels of experience, you pick your level of difficulty! Payment either through the website, or you can arrange to get me a check/cash/zelle. Please contact me directly if you would like to pay outside of the website. Once payment is received, you will be added to the class. Each week you will learn a different element about independent skills. Topics include: • Independent Hunting/Searching - this is in the absence of odor! • Independent Sourcing - can your dog work to source, regardless of where you are and what you are doing? We will be playing some fun proofing games for this topic! • Drive to source - building your dog's desire to source a hide, even when objects are in the way (layering!) Independence with Distraction choice! • Independent Indication - Alert behaviors at any distance, even when you are out of sight! This class will be a fun change of pace from typical skill building! It's goal is to create a stronger dog in searching (odor obedience!), and make them much less reliant on your own actions or decisions. With a little handling, a little work with distractions, and a LOT on building value for odor despite everything else.
